SEATTLE – In their first home match of the season, the Seattle University Redhawks earned a 4-3 win over the Portland State Vikings. The Redhawks won all four of their points in singles matches: Lamija Avdic, Liliya Dimova, Natalia Michta, and Larissa Teramura all won their matches.
In addition to the singles wins, Michta and Avdic earned a 6-2 win in doubles play, their second doubles win of the weekend after a 6-4 win at Portland. Avdic has also won both of her singles matches this weekend: after a three-set win at Portland, Avdic won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 today on court one.
Dimova also earned her second straight singles win, making it a 2-0 weekend for the senior. In today's match, Dimova won 6-2, 6-3 on court two, clinching Seattle U's first point of the match.
Michta also earned a singles win, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Michta has won two of her last three singles matches, also earning a win at Idaho last week.
Teramura's singles win was her first of the year. The junior had a commanding 6-2, 7-5 win on court six that made it a 3-3 match. Avdic's three-set win on court one would seal the deal for the Redhawks and make it a 4-3 win.
The Redhawks will stay in Washington next week, heading across the state for two matches on Gonzaga's campus. First up will be a match against Montana in Spokane on March 1. After that, the Redhawks will take on Gonzaga on March 2.
