PORTLAND, Ore. – The Seattle University Redhawks and Portland Pilots went down to the wire, with the Redhawks falling 3-4 on the road. Lamija Avdic and Liliya Dimova had singles wins, while doubles saw Avdic and Natalia Michta, as well as Daria Nazarenko and Lola Tavcar, earn wins.
In doubles play, Nazarenko made it three straight doubles wins, this time earning a 6-4 win paired with Tavcar. Nazarenko won at Washington State and Idaho in doubles last week as well, pairing with Dimova in those matches.
The duo of Avdic and Michta also won 6-4 in doubles, giving Seattle U the doubles point. This was the first time this season that Avdic and Michta have paired in doubles play.
Avdic also earned a point for the Redhawks with a singles win on court one. The sophomore won 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-2 in a tight match. The Redhawks picked up another win on court two, where Dimova won 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in a comeback victory. Dimova is now 2-1 over the last two weeks in singles play, having also earned a win at Idaho.
Seattle U is right back in action tomorrow, this time at the Amy Yee Tennis Center. The Redhawks will play host to Portland State in a match that begins at 2:00 pm.
