LOS ANGELES - Seattle U baseball dropped their 2025 season opener vs Loyola Marymount, 3-10, Friday night in California. The Redhawks were held to three runs on three hits as the Lions took game one of the three game series.

"Tough opener with our lack of offense," said head coach Donny Harrel post game. "Our outfield play really hurt us tonight and turned a close game into a blowout."

One of the Redhawks three hits came off the bat of Vicente Feliciano, who sent one over the left field wall in the 3rd for the first Redhawk run of the new season. The other two SU runs on the night came from a Colin Curry sacrifice fly in the 6th, and a LMU wild pitch in the 9th that brought home Jared Stevenson.

Blake Smith (0-1) had the start  and went 4 1/3 IP, while giving up four earned and striking out six. After giving up three runs in the first, the righty settled down and put up three straight scoreless frames. Micah Hagler, Reid Madariaga, and Patrick Galvin all made relief appearances on the night.

"Smith competed really well and the bullpen threw strikes, so another positive," Harrel added. "Tomorrow, we have to be more aggressive in the strike zone and create longer at-bats with a better two strike approach."

Seattle U (0-1) will have a chance to even the series with LMU tomorrow in game two of the series. Isaac Hallam is scheduled to make the start on the hill with first pitch set for 3pm PT. The game will once again be broadcasted on ESPN+.
