SEATTLE - Love and Seattle U women's basketball is in the air as the Redhawks (3-19, 0-9 WAC) host Abilene Christian (15-9, 4-5 WAC) on Thursday night at 6 PM PT for their first contest of a three-game homestand at the Redhawk Center.
Nine Redhawks have been dubbed leading scorer through 22 contests this season, with graduate Christeina Bryan leading the charge at six games. Bryan and senior Julianna Walker combined for 22 points this past Saturday at UT Arlington, leading the way for the Redhawk offense.
Bryan, the team's leading rebounder, captures 5.6 rebounds, including 1.9 offensive boards, a game. She is one of two Redhawks that rank in the top-20 in the WAC in rebounds, sitting at 12th in the league. Redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin is tied-18th averaging 5.0 rebounds a game.
Stricklin, in nine conference games, is actively leading the team with 10.9 points a game in WAC play. Bryan posts 9.2 points in 6.0 rebounds in WAC contests, shooting 46.4 percent from the field.
Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe leads the team in scoring, posting 9.7 points a game in 22 appearances this season. The freshman guard shoots a team leading 51.7 percent from the field, collecting 3.5 makes from the floor a game. Edokpaigbe has been the team's leading scorer in five contests this year and remains the WAC's lone freshman in the top-20 in scoring on the season.
Guiding the Redhawks from behind the arc is redshirt sophomore Olivia Moore. Since her return in mid-January, Moore now ranks 12th in the league in made triples, connecting on 23 this year, averaging 1.4 makes a game in 16 appearances. Stricklin leads the team with 29 makes from three, also averaging 1.4 a game. Moore shoots a team leading 45.8 percent from three in WAC contests, while averaging 7.8 points a game in six WAC games.
The Redhawks and the Wildcats meet for the second time this season after the Redhawks made the trip out to Abilene, Texas the second week of January. ACU took the game 83-55 with Edokpaigbe leading the Redhawks with 15 points in the defeat. Thursday night's contest is the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs and presents Seattle U the opportunity to even the series. The Wildcats hold the current edge 3-2.
SU last defeated Abilene Christian a season ago, claiming the 59-54 victory in Seattle. The Wildcats are 6-3 on the road this season and currently hold a two game winning streak after beating both Utah Tech and Southern Utah at home. Seattle U is ACU's first stop on a three-game road stretch. The Redhawks go for their first conference win of the season, aiming to avenge the early 2025 loss to the Wildcats.
