PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Seattle University Redhawks advanced to the semifinals of Mountain Classic Match Play, winning nine of the 15 matchups across three rounds of golf. Rivekka Jumagulova and Jeanne Padillo each went undefeated, winning all three of their matchups. Seattle University won two of its three team matchups. The Redhawks defeated Montana State in round one but fell to host Boise State 3-0-2 in the semifinals. Seattle University would finish off the weekend with a 3-0-2 win over St. Thomas.
Jumagulova had her matches advance past the 15th hole only once in three rounds as she went 3-0 on the weekend. The senior won 2&1 in round one, then had 5&4 wins against both Boise State and St. Thomas. She had seven rounds under par across her 45 holes of golf.
Padillo was just as strong in her undefeated weekend. The freshman went all 18 holes in both rounds one and two, winning 2up and 1up, buoyed in part by a birdie on hole 17 in round one. In round three, Padillo won 4&3, recording four birdies to seal the win after 15 holes.
Tsara Ralamboarison started the weekend with a 5&3 win, with four birdies through 15 holes in round one for a victory. In all, Ralamboarison recorded nine birdies, with four in both rounds one and three.
Annika Cruz earned a matchup win as well, defeating Montana State's Hannah Boraas in round won. Cruz won that matchup 5&4, shooting just +2 over through 14 holes.
Aaryanna Morris won her matchup with St. Thomas' Nicole Reineke 3&2. Morris earned the win with three birdies in the final seven holes, ending the matchup after 16 holes.
Next for the Redhawks is a trip to Sacramento for the Causeway Invitational. That competition will be across two days, beginning February 24.
