SEATTLE - It will be matches in back-to-back days for the Seattle University Redhawks this weekend. The Redhawks host Sacramento State and Oklahoma State on February 7 and 8. The match against Sacramento State will be held at the Amy Yee Tennis Center beginning at 3:00 pm. The match against Oklahoma State on February 8 will be at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on Washington's campus and will begin at 2:00 pm.
The Redhawks will be looking to pick up their first win of the dual-match season. Thus far, Seattle University has dropped matches to Washington and Gonzaga. Yu-Han Hsieh remains undefeated in doubles matches in the spring season: against Washington, his match paired with Filip Stipic went unfinished going into the second set. Against Gonzaga, Hsieh and Yuan Lu won 7-6 (7-3).
The last matchup between Seattle University and Sacramento State came last year in Sacramento. The Redhawks fell 0-4 in that match, though current Redhawk Michael Frank won his doubles match 6-1, paired with the since-graduated Julian Worn. The only other dual match between Seattle University and Sacramento State came in 2022, also a Sacramento State win. The Redhawks have never faced Oklahoma State in a dual match.
These two matches will be the third and fourth in a row in Seattle to start the spring season. Seattle University also played at Washington to start the spring, then hosted Gonzaga. The Redhawks will have one more match in Seattle, on February 15 against Portland, before leaving the city. Their first match outside Seattle will be on March 1 at Gonzaga.
