SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks head across the state for the Riverfront Invitational and Multis, hosted at The Podium in Spokane. The three-day meet begins February 6 at noon.
The Redhawks will send nine athletes to this week's competition. Livii Fetterley, Taylor Marks, Manthita Wague, Mia Talarico, Zoe Tibbo, Rock Gignac, JR Zamora, Matthew Fiso, and Sean Ellison will all be competing. That group will compete across eight different events in all, with at least one Redhawk competing on each of the three days.
Fetterley, Marks, Wague, Talarico, Tibbo, Gignac, Zamora, Fiso, and Ellison will all compete in the 60m. Fetterley will be doing so as part of the pentathlon, where she will also compete in the 800m, high jump (along with Gignac), shot put, and long jump (along with Wague, Tibbo, Zamora, Fiso, Ellison, and Gignac).
Talarico and Zamora will also run the 200m. Marks will be Seattle University's lone representative in the 400m. Wague, Tibbo, Fiso, Zamora, Ellison, and Gignac will all compete in the triple jump.
The Riverfront Invitational comes after a highly successful UW Invitational last week, where the Redhawks recorded six new all-time program top-ten times. Fiso was a part of the 4x400m relay team that recorded SU's eighth-fastest time (3:24.49) ever at that meet. Zamora ran the eighth-fastest 60m in SU history as well with his time of 7.07. Gignac recorded a new personal best, one of 16 for the Redhawks at the UW Invitational, with his 56.17 in the 400m.
Seattle University will have one more full meet before the WAC Indoor Championships, which begin on February 28. That last tune-up meet will be the Husky Classic, hosted by Washington in the Dempsey Indoor Facility. The two-day Husky Classic begins February 14.
