SEATTLE - The 2025 season continues across town as the Seattle University Redhawks will compete at Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility for the UW Invitational. The two-day event begins January 31 at 1:00 pm and will finish on February 1, when competition begins at 10:00 am.
The Redhawks will be looking to improve off an already-impressive first meet of the indoor season. At the Washington Preview and Mile City, the Redhawks recorded seven new top-ten all-time times from seven different competitors. Rachel Albright, Diana Camargo Solis, Livii Fetterley, McKenna White, JR Zamora, Matthew Fiso, and Alisha Saucedo all put their names in the Seattle University record books with their performances. That included Fetterley's 25.06 200m time, just .18 seconds off the school record and good for second all-time.
In the field events, Albright's 11.10m weight throw was the sixth-best in SU history. Fiso's 13.69m triple jump, the first of his collegiate career, was second-best in SU history. Zamora's 6.66m long jump was just .01m off the SU all-time record, good for second.
On the track, White and Camargo Solis each entered the top ten in the 3000m. Camargo Solis ran a 10:01.64, the sixth-best mark in SU history. White ran a 10:05.99, good for seventh, just behind Camargo Solis and one of four all-time top-ten 3000m times owned by current Redhawks. Saucedo ran a 5:03.54 in the mile, the eighth-fastest in program history.
At last season's UW Invitational, the Redhawks set a new program record in the 60m as Miguel Rosario ran a 6.69. Current Redhawks Yonas Sauers, Lilianne Hargreaves, and Manthita Wague all set new top-ten times in that meet as well, in the mile (Sauers, 10th, 4:16.30 and Hargreaves, 3rd, 4:56.73) and triple jump (Wague, 6th, 11.20m).
After this week's UW Invitational, the Redhawks will have one more meet before the WAC Indoor Championships. That meet will be the Husky Classic, set for February 9 and 10 at the Dempsey Indoor Facility at Washington's campus.
