ARLINGTON, Texas - Senior Taylor Fitch and sophomore Mikee Morris were each named as part of the 11 member Western Athletic Conference's preseason softball team as announced by the league this afternoon.

The Redhawks as a team were selected to finish fourth overall and received one first place vote as voted on by the WAC's eight other respective coaches. Fitch and Morris became the eighth straight group of Redhawks to earn preseason All-WAC distinction, while also extending Seattle U's representation of at least one player on the WAC's preseason team to 12 straight years.

Fitch garnered All-WAC First Team honors in her first year in Seattle, a feat that later landed her on the NFCA All-Region Second Team. Her prowess at third base was also recognized earlier this year, as she was named as the #12 third baseman in the D1 Softball preseason position rankings.

Fitch ended the 2024 campaign leading the team, while ranking in the top-10 in the WAC, in batting average (.374), doubles (19), RBI (37), slugging percentage (.615) and home runs (7). She collected one of the conference's weekly awards in April 2024 as the WAC's Hitter of the Week and later earned a spot on the WAC's All-Academic team.

Morris and Fitch both appeared in all 55 contests for the Redhawks a season ago, the only pair to do so in 2024. Morris paced both the team and the WAC in assists, accounting for 137 in her freshman campaign. She recorded 57 hits, 9 doubles, 27 RBI and four stolen bases in her Redhawk debut. The shortstop also collected WAC All-Academic honors in 2024.

The Redhawks open the 2025 season at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, CA against Long Beach State on Friday, February 7 at 12:30 p.m. PT before taking on host Stanford at 6:00 p.m. PT.
