SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks dropped the first home match of the spring season to the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 4-0. Yuan Lu and Yu-Han Hsieh won their doubles match, while Filip Stipic led his singles match but did not finish.
Lu and Hsieh won 7-6 (7-3) in their doubles match as the doubles point went to an all-important third match. Michael Frank and Veselin Kiselkov fell 6-7 (2-7) in the tiebreaking match, giving the doubles point to Gonzaga.
In singles play, Stipic won his first set 7-5 and trailed 2-4 in set two when the overall match ended. Jun Sasagawa had a competitive singles match as well, falling 6-7 (6) in the first set, with his second set not finishing.
The Redhawks host three home matches in February for their next action. First up is a match against Sacramento State on February 7 at the Amy Yee Tennis Center. The Redhawks will also host Oklahoma State at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on February 8 and Portland at the Amy Yee Tennis Center on February 15.
