SEATTLE - A back and forth between Seattle U women's basketball (3-15, 0-5 WAC) and UT Arlington (9-7, 4-1 WAC) came down to free throws as the Mavs claimed the 70-58 victory over the Redhawks at the Redhawk Center on Thursday night.

SEATTLE - A back and forth between Seattle U women's basketball (3-15, 0-5 WAC) and UT Arlington (9-7, 4-1 WAC) came down to free throws as the Mavs claimed the 70-58 victory over the Redhawks at the Redhawk Center on Thursday night.
 
Graduate Christeina Bryan paced the team with her first career double-double, scoring 12 points while bringing in a new career high 13 rebounds, including five offensive boards. The forward also handed out three assists and grabbed a steal.
 
Leading the team in scoring was redshirt sophomore Olivia Moore. She scored 14 points, shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and hitting two makes from behind the arc. The guard recorded seven rebounds for a new career high. Moore and Bryan led the team in assists with three a piece.
 
Scoring a combined 16 points were freshman Sydnie Rodriguez and senior Julianna Walker. The pair hit two triples a piece, with Rodriguez shooting 50 percent from deep.
 
The Redhawks paced the Mavericks in assists and triples, handing out 14 assists to UTA's 11. On the night, UTA made three triples to Seattle U's seven, as the Redhawks held the Mavs to 15.8 percent shooting from behind the arc. Both teams brought in 38 rebounds.
 
UTA battled the game away from the Redhawks from the free throw line, netting 23 free throws to Seattle U's nine. Defensively, the Redhawks shut down the WAC's third best field goal percentage shooting team, holding them to 37.3 percent shooting from the floor. 
 
After a sluggish start from both teams in the opening minutes of action, the Redhawks found themselves down by five at the end of the first quarter. They turned around to pull within two at the half after out scoring the Mavs 14-11 in the second quarter. 
 
UTA led by as many as nine midway through the second quarter before a three point play from Moore cut the lead to seven. The Mavs got two back from the free throw line before Walker and Bryan combined for five points to pull within three with three minutes left in the half. With under twenty seconds remaining before the break, Moore hit a free throw to tie it for the first time in the game. A late bucket from UTA gave the Mavs the 25-23 lead at the half.
 
Out of the half, the Redhawk offense got off to a slow start, as the Mavericks found a 12 point lead. Moore kicked off a 10-2 run with a triple for Seattle U to make it a four point game, but UTA went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line to close the half. After UTA got their lead back up to eight, Walker and Rodriguez struck back-to-back from three point land to pull within two at the end of the third quarter.
 
UTA got moving first and capitalized from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter. The Mavs out scored Seattle U 25-15 in the final minutes, with 12 points coming from the free throw line, as they claimed the 70-58 win over the Redhawks.
 
Seattle U hits the road once more, traveling to Utah Valley for an afternoon contest at the UCCU Center with live coverage on ESPN+.
