SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball (3-15, 0-5 WAC) travels for the final time in January for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Utah Valley (12-6, 4-2 WAC) at the UCCU Center in hot pursuit of its first conference victory of the season.
The Redhawks spent four of it seven games on the road through the opening month of WAC play. After spending time in Southern Utah last weekend, Seattle U makes its final trip to the state of Utah this season.
Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe is the conference's lone freshman that ranks in the top-20 in scoring this season. Her 11.0 points per game ranks tied-13th in the league this year. She has appeared in all 18 contests for the Redhawks and is the team's leading free throw shooter. She's made it to the line more than any Redhawk, ranking fifth in the WAC with 47 makes from the charity stripe this year.
Edokpaigbe also paces the team in steals, ranking 14th in the WAC averaging 1.7 steals a game. She's shooting 54.3 percent from the field this season, averaging 3.9 makes a game.
Aiding in scoring are graduate Christeina Bryan and redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin. Bryan comes off her first double-double after registering a new career high 13 rebounds against UT Arlington. She scored 12 points in the loss to the Mavs. The pair both rank as some of the league's leading rebounders. Bryan is averaging 5.7 rebounds a game and Stricklin sits right behind with 5.1 rebounds a game.
Bryan is averaging 8.8 points a game for the Redhawks, shooting 45.3 percent from the field. Stricklin is posting 9.0 points a game off 37.6 percent shooting from the floor. She leads the team in makes from behind the arc, connecting for 22 makes from deep this season for an average of 1.3 a game. Also leading the team in makes from three are graduate Taisiya Kozlova and freshman Sydnie Rodriguez, both have 19 on the season.
The Redhawks lead the all-time series against the Wolverines 15-12 dating back to their first meeting in 2011. Since joining the WAC in 2013, the conference game series is tied 11-11. Seattle U is 4-9 in Orem, Utah after defeating the Wolverines there in 2023. The Redhawks have won three of the last four meetings, after Utah Valley claimed the win at the end of January a season ago.

Following Saturday's game, the Redhawks return home to the Redhawk Center to close out the month of January. They host Grand Canyon on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. PT for Kids Day.
