SEATTLE - The first home match of the season is coming up for the Seattle University Redhawks, who will host Gonzaga on January 25 at 9:00 am at the Amy Yee Tennis Center. This will be the first of four straight home matches for the Redhawks, who next hit the road in March.
The Redhawks will play Gonzaga twice this year. In addition to this weekend's home match, Seattle University will travel to Spokane to play Gonzaga on March 1.
Seattle University's spring season kicked off last week with a dual match at Washington. The Redhawks fell 4-0 in that match.
The Redhawks already competed against Gonzaga in the fall season, taking part in the Gonzaga Invitational in November to bring a close to the fall. Yuan Lu and Yu-Han Hsieh made the east finals in the red doubles draw at that event, winning two matches before falling in the final. Filip Stipic and Jun Sasagawa won two doubles matches together at that event as well. In singles, Sasagawa won twice in the white singles west draw before falling in the finals.
While the Redhawks have taken part in the Gonzaga Invitational each of the last two years, Gonzaga and Seattle University have not met in a dual match since 2022, when Gonzaga won 4-0 in Spokane. Current Redhawks Veselin Kiselkov, Michael Frank, Jayden Harrison, Oliver Hall, and Stipic all competed in that match.
