SEATTLE - Two matches on the road open the spring schedule for the Seattle University Redhawks, who will play Oregon and Long Beach State this weekend. The Redhawks will play host Oregon on January 24 at 1:00 pm, then play Long Beach State in Eugene on January 25 at 12:00 pm. Both matches will be streamed live here.
This is the first action of spring for the Redhawks. The fall season saw plenty of success, with Natalia Michta and Liliya Dimova becoming the first Redhawks ever to compete at ITA Conference Masters. Dimova and Lamija Avdic won the WAC Fall Invitational doubles tournament to earn that spot in ITA Masters.
The Redhawks played three matches in Eugene last season, twice against Oregon and once against Pacific. Seattle University also beat George Fox and fell to Portland in Oregon, with those matches coming in Newberg and Portland, respectively.
This begins a road-heavy schedule for the Redhawks, who will not play at home until February 22. The first five matches of the spring season will be on the road. In addition to this weekend's two matches in Eugene, the Redhawks will play Idaho (Feb. 15), Washington State (Feb. 16), and Portland (Feb. 21), all at those schools.
The last dual matches for the Redhawks came last season. Seattle University went 3-3 to end the season, falling against Abilene Christian in the WAC Tournament to end the 2024 spring season. Avdic was named the WAC Freshman of the Year at the conclusion of that tournament.
