SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball (3-13, 0-3 WAC) ends a weekend of travel in hot pursuit of its first conference win of the season against Southern Utah (2-14, 0-3 WAC) at America First Event Center on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe is the WAC's only freshman amongst the top-20 in scoring this season. Through 16 contests, the freshman guard ranks 15th, averaging 10.9 points per game. She's shooting 55.2 percent from the field, averaging 4.0 makes a game from the floor. Edokpaigbe also ranks fourth in the WAC in free throw percentage, averaging 2.8 makes from the free throw line a game and 14th in the league in steals per game (1.6).

Three Redhawks rank in the top-20 in the conference in rebounds per game. Senior Sophie Benharouga ranks 17th with 5.3 a game in nine contests. Bryan follows behind with 5.2 rebounds a game, collecting 83 total on the season through all 16 games. Redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin rounds out the group, grabbing five a game.

Bryan comes off a career night, posting 23 points against Utah Tech, including a career best nine makes from the free throw line. Stricklin was two shy of her career high on Thursday night, scoring 19 while bringing in a team leading eight rebounds. Both are averaging 9.1 points a game. Bryan's 20+ point effort was the third seen by the Redhawks this season, with Stricklin and Edokpaigbe each recording their own earlier in the year.

Others ranked in the WAC are redshirt sophomore Sheridan Liggett and graduate Taisiya Kozlova. Liggett ranks 10th in the WAC in assists, handing out 3.1 a game, while Kozlova sits at 13th in made triples with 19 makes on the year, averaging 1.4 a game.

The Redhawks and Thunderbirds meet for the fourth time in program history with Seattle U trailing 1-2. It's the second ever meeting between the two in Cedar City, last meeting on Southern Utah's floor in 2023. Seattle U is 0-1 in Cedar City, but got its first program win over the Thunderbirds a season ago, downing them by four in Seattle.

Following Saturday's game, the Redhawks return home to host UT Arlington on Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m. PT.
