SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball (3-10, 0-0 WAC) takes to the floor for the first time in 2025 and opens WAC play hosting California Baptist (3-11, 0-0 WAC) at the Redhawk Center on Saturday, January 4 at 1 p.m. PT.

The Redhawks come off a nine-point win over CSU Bakersfield, led behind a 21 point scoring effort from redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin, to cap off the non-conference slate with three victories, the most the program has seen in two years. Sunday's win over the Roadrunners was the first road win for the team after an extensive road stint in the non-conference.

Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe leads the team and ranks 15th in the WAC in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. She posts 4.1 field goals a game, hitting 56.4 percent from the floor to lead all Redhawks. The freshman guard records 4.5 rebounds, including a team best 2.2 offensive rebounds a game, while collecting 1.5 steals a game. Her 1.5 steals rank her tied 14th in the WAC and her 2.2 offensive boards a game ranks ninth in the league.

Edokpaigbe gets to the line the most frequently of any Redhawk. She ranks third in the league in free throw percentage, averaging 2.6 free throws made a game.

Aiding her is graduate Christeina Bryan, who's hitting 44.8 percent from the floor this season, averaging 3.3 made field goals a game for 8.4 points a game. Bryan is the team's leading rebounder, collecting 5.4 a game, which ranks her 15th in the WAC through 13 contests.

Stricklin is averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, which ranks 18th in the WAC, in 12 appearances. Senior Sophie Benharouga in seven appearances, has scored 8.9 points a game, while corralling 5.1 rebounds a game. Graduate Taisiya Kozlova leads the Redhawks with 15 threes made on the season, averaging 1.4 a game in 11 appearances.

For the first time in over two weeks, the Redhawks take to their home floor, as last year's WAC Tournament champs come to town. The Lancers also finished with three wins through the first half of the season, capturing victories over Saint Mary's, CSUN and Texas Southern.

The Redhawks trail the all-time series against California Baptist 11-1 dating back to their first meeting in 2019. Seattle U's lone win came in February 2020, defeating the Lancers 83-49 in Riverside. CBU has taken the last nine contests, including the most recent meeting in Seattle, defeating the Redhawks by nine at the Redhawk Center.

Following Saturday's game, the Redhawks have a week off before they travel to Abilene Christian for an 11 a.m. PT tip on January 11.
