ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle University's Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 8.
The graduate transfer averaged 14.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in Seattle U's two games last week. He picked up his fifth double-double of the season in the Redhawks' 91-74 win over Portland State, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He came two rebounds shy of another double-double at UTEP, finishing with 14 points and eight boards. Moncrieffe added five assists and one steal on the week while shooting 62.5% from the field (10-16).
On the season , Moncrieffe leads the Redhawks in scoring at 13.9 ppg to go with 10.3 rpg. He leads the WAC and ranks No. 6 nationally with five double-doubles.
