BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Collecting its first road win of the season, the Seattle U women's basketball team (3-10), led behind a 20+ point scoring effort from redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin, outraced the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunner (0-12) anvil for the 58-49 victory at the Icardo Center.

Stricklin netted a new career high 21 points in 29 minutes of action, knocking back seven shots, including a tied-season high three triples. The redshirt junior corralled eight rebounds, including three offensive boards, and two steals, while matching a season best three assists. She got to the line the most on the afternoon, scoring four from the charity stripe for a new career high.

Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe added 16 points, hitting six-of-eight from the floor including a triple. She hit three free throws, while hauling in three rebounds and dished out two assists. Fellow freshman Sydnie Rodriguez matched Stricklin with three made threes on the day. Rodriguez ended with nine points and three rebounds while hitting 50 percent from behind the arc.

Senior Sophie Benharouga led both teams with 10 rebounds for a new season high, while notching a block and four points.

The Redhawks combined for nine made threes, while shooting 34.6 percent from deep. They outrebounded the Roadrunners 43 to 38, while picking up nine offensive boards. Seattle U generated five steals to CSUB's two and ended the night with 10 turnovers, the lowest of the season for the Redhawks, while generating 10 points off CSUB turnovers.

CSUB held the lead at the end of the first three quarters, a feat typically decided by one possession. The Roadrunners took the 34-33 lead into the half, their first halftime lead of the season, before the Redhawks took control in the closing ten minutes. The Redhawks led by as many as nine in the fourth quarter, reclaiming the lead at the 5:34 mark. Neither team could score through the remainder, leading Seattle U to its first road win of the season.

The Redhawks captured their first win over CSUB in Bakersfield since 2019 and ended their nonconference slate in the win column. They return to play on January 4th, hosting California Baptist at the Redhawk Center at 1 p.m. PT.
