SEATTLE - Seattle University's men's and women's tennis programs will wrap up the fall season this week. The men will compete as a team at the Gonzaga Invitational while Natalia Michta and Liliya Dimova represent the women at ITA Conference Masters. The Gonzaga Invitational, a three-day tournament, will begin November 8. ITA Masters begins November 7 and runs until November 10.
Michta and Dimova will be the first Redhawks ever to take part in ITA Masters, having earned qualification when Dimova and Lamija Avdic won the doubles tournament at the WAC Fall Invitational. Avdic also represented Seattle University at the ITA All-American Championships this year, the first Redhawk ever to take part in that tournament, but has withdrawn from ITA Conference Masters, with Michta competing instead. The pair of Michta and Dimova will take part in the 32-team doubles competition. ITA Masters doubles will run all four days, with both the final and consolation final on November 10.
For the men, the season will continue on the road after a successful trip to the Pacific Northwest Invitational in Oregon last weekend. The Redhawks earned six doubles wins at that tournament, with Michael Frank and Oliver Hall going a perfect 3-0. In singles play, the Redhawks had nine wins. Hall, Frank, and Yu-Han Hsieh all won two singles matches.
The Redhawks also competed at Gonzaga's fall tournament last season. There, Hsieh and Filip Stipic reached the doubles final in the white draw, while Frank and Julian Worn reached the blue-draw semifinals. In singles play, Jayden Harrison earned a win, reaching the semifinals in the red draw.
This weekend will be the end of the fall season for both the men's and women's teams.
