SEATTLE –  Seattle University men's basketball deployed a balanced attack against visiting Northwest University and used a big second half to put away the Eagles, 80-52, Friday. Night at the Redhawk Center.

Paris Dawson came off the bench to lead Seattle U (2-3) in scoring, finishing with 16 points, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe had 14 points and Brayden Maldonado and DaSean Stevens each chipped in 10 as the Redhawks picked up their second consecutive win.

The Eagles had nine players on the board, but did not have a double-digit scorer as Filip Mugosa led the way with nine points.

Sixty total fouls were called and 70 total free throws were taken in a game that lacked much continuity.

The Redhawks led 38-30 through the first frame, then pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Eagles, 42-22.

Leading by just six, 44-38, Seattle U rolled off 11 straight points and ultimately a 22-4 run that opened up a 66-42 advantage with 8:41 to play. The Eagles got no closer than 18 points for the balance of the game.

The competition stiffens next week as the Redhawks begin a two-game road trip with a Tuesday meeting with Furman at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The game is part of the 2024 Vegas Showdown, presented by ESPN. Seattle U will follow that match-up with a first-ever trip to Duke on Friday, Nov. 29.
