SEATTLE - Working in conjunction with Seattle U men's basketball and West Seattle Food Bank, the Seattle U women's basketball team (0-4) holds a food drive for its Saturday afternoon game against Evergreen State (0-2) at the Redhawk Center at 1 p.m.
Those attending the men's game against Northwest on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. and the women's game on Saturday, November 23 are encouraged to bring, if able, shelf stable or canned foods, including shelf stable meals and drinks. All donations go directly to the West Seattle Food bank to help those in need this holiday season.
Freshman guard Candy Edokpaigbe matched a season high 16 points in Tuesday's loss to Portland, marking her third game this season as the team's leading scorer. She paces the team with 11.8 points per game, shooting a team best 54.5 percent from the field averaging 4.5 FGM a game.
Redshirt sophomore Sheridan Liggett comes off back-to-back starts, averaging 8.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, while shooting 30.8 percent from three.
Graduate Christeina Bryan matched a career high 19 points against Portland State off a career tying eight FGM. She leads the teams in rebounds, averaging 5.8 per game, and steals with 1.5 per game. Her 7.5 points per game is third on the team, tying redshirt sophomore Olivia Moore's season average. Bryan is shooting 41.9 percent from the field. Moore is hitting 41.7 percent of her shots from the field and follows Liggett with 2.0 assists per game.
Both graduate Taisiya Kozlova and redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin have averaged 8.0 points through three contests this season. Kozlova posted a career high 13 points against Portland State after knocking down three threes against Portland State. Stricklin follows Bryan with 5.3 rebounds per game.
The Redhawks are 13-0 against the Geoducks dating back to the 1997-98 season and hold a 6-0 record at home. The two last met in 2015 with Seattle U handing Evergreen State a 81-38 defeat in Bellevue. Both teams are in pursuit of their first win of the season.
Following Saturday's contest, the Redhawks travel to Phoenix for the Talking Stick Resort Thanksgiving Classic. They'll play two neutral site games on Grand Canyon's floor, taking on both Texas A&M Commerce and UC Santa Barbara between Friday and Saturday the week of Thanksgiving.
