SEATTLE - Four new signees will represent Seattle U softball in the red and black as Aurora Zepeda, Jaeden Sajec, Mia Powell and Oona Capristo prepare for arrival in 2025 as announced by head coach Geoff Hirai.

"This class has great athletes that will bring a lot of speed and versatility to our program," Hirai said.

Three California natives and one Washingtonian makeup the incoming class, with Powell, joining from Murrieta, Calif., traveling the furthest of the quad. The outfielder was a four year varsity letter winner at Vista Murrieta High School, making the All-Academic team as a sophomore, while playing travel ball with the Corona Angels Slye. In her junior year, she grabbed Second Team All-League honors while holding a .397 batting average.

"Mia is a triple-threat outfielder who will bring great range and speed to our program. She also plays for a top-notch travel ball team and I can see her impacting us right away," Hirai shared.

Hailing from Simi Valley, Calif. is Zepeda, a four year varsity starter at Simi Valley High. The shortstop/center fielder helped guide her team to the playoffs in 2022-23, earning Offensive Player of the Year honors and First Team All-League in Ventura County as a result. She also plays travel softball with the SoCal Choppers.

"Aurora is a true utility player that brings great leadership and presence whether in the infield or outfield," Hirai said. "She plays for a top-notch travel ball team and will bring great competitiveness to our program."

Zepeda bats a .319, holding an ODP at .415 moving into her final season at Simi Valley.  In her spare time off the field, Zepeda spends time volunteering at the local food drive and refereeing youth soccer.

Journeying from Northern California upon graduation from Berkeley High School is Oona Capristo. The four year varsity letter winner plays primarily infield and comes off a junior season that garnered a First Team All-League WACC12 recognition after posting a .525 batting average and .595 OBP in 2024.

It was the second first team honor for Capristo, earning the distinction in her freshman year, while collecting a Second Team mention in 2023. She helped guide her team to two playoff appearances in both 2022 and 2024, while splitting time with her travel ball team the Batbusters. In the classroom, Capristo has been recognized on the President's list three consecutive years. She is also an active member on the student-athlete leadership team and Sprouting STEMs club.

"Oona is a triple-threat middle infielder who will provide speed and a solid glove. She plays on a great travel ball team and will provide ample competition for the starting spot next year," shared Hirai.

The lone Washington native is Jaeden Sajec from nearby Lynnwood, Wash. Sajec enjoyed a successful year in 2024 and enters her final season at Meadowdale High School as a four year varsity letter winner. Sajec and the Mavericks come off a run to the 3A District 1 tournament quarterfinals as the tournament's four seed in 2024.

Now in her senior year, Sajec holds class office, acting as treasurer. In addition to playing with the Mavericks, Sajec plays travel ball with the Washington Ladyhawks. A season ago, the outfielder recorded a .341 batting average, .449 OBP and a .939 fielding percentage.

"Jaeden is a great athlete from the Northwest that will bring speed and a great arm for us in the outfield," Hirai said. "Her upside is through the roof and I see her developing into an amazing player for us the next four years."
