SEATTLE – Seattle University extended its streak of academic excellence with a 95 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the most recent data released by the NCAA, which is based on the students entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2014 through 2017.

Seattle U has tallied at least a 92 percent in every multi-year report since 2008. In addition, the Redhawks' single-year (2017 cohort) GSR was 96 percent.

Ten teams, including men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming, women's swimming, women's cross country/track & field, women's rowing, women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis and softball each claimed perfect 100 percent scores for the multi-year cohort. All 16 Redhawk programs surpassed the 80 percent threshold.

Women's golf has perfect scores in 10 consecutive reports, while women's cross country/track & field has an nine-year streak at 100 percent. Women's basketball, rowing and women's swimming are on a five-year streak at 100 percent, while men's basketball has been at 100 percent for four consecutive years.

GSR data indicates the number of student athletes earning a degree within six years. The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess the academic success of student athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and student athletes who leave in good academic standing, unlike the federal rate, which does not count transfers. The GSR also accounts for mid-year enrollees and is calculated for every sport.
