PORTLAND - Three Redhawks posted double-digit scoring efforts in Seattle U women's basketball's (0-4) 78-55 defeat at the hands of the Portland Pilots (4-0) at the Chiles Center on Tuesday night.

Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe led the team for her third game this season, scoring 16 points to match her season high. She went 7-of-14 from the floor, hauled in five rebounds and dished out three assists. Redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin notched a new season high, scoring 15 points, shooting 58.3 percent from the floor and bringing in five rebounds and two steals. She finished just two points shy of her career high.

Freshman Sydnie Rodriguez hit 50 percent from beyond the arc, ending the night with 10 points. She brought in five rebounds and two steals, while handing out two assists.

Stricklin and Rodriguez were two of four Redhawks that grabbed two steals. Graduate Christeina Bryan and freshman Lucy Larson had two apiece, while Bryan went for six points off 3-of-8 shooting from the floor. She also hauled in three rebounds and recorded a block while matching Edokpaigbe and redshirt sophomore Olivia Moore with three assists.

Both teams matched energy through the opening minutes of the contest, but at the midway point the tide turned in favor of Portland. After Edokpaigbe tied the game 8-8, the Pilots closed the final minutes of a 18-7 run. The Redhawks struggled to contain the Pilots through the second quarter and faced another deficit heading into halftime. Despite Seattle U outscoring the Pilots 27-22 in the second half, it was not enough to wipe the early deficit The Redhawks fell by a 78-55 final.

Both teams found success in scoring points in the paint, the Redhawks recording 40 to Portland's 42. Both scored seven second chance points, but Portland went deep into its reserves, having its bench score 27 points. The Redhawks shot 43.1 percent from the floor, brought in 27 rebounds and forced nine steals.

The Redhawks return home for a Saturday contest against Evergreen State on November 23 at 1 p.m. at the Redhawk Center.
