ARLINGTON, Texas - Guiding the Seattle U volleyball team to a 2-0 final weekend with wins over Utah Tech and Tarleton State, senior Katlyn Sipes took home the Jersey's Mikes A Sub Above WAC Libero of the Week, her second recognition this season.

Sipes combined for 33 digs across both contests, registering 19 digs against Utah Tech and an additional 14 against the Texans for an average of 4.71 digs per set. She tied a season high six assists against Utah Tech, while closing the weekend with four against Tarleton. The senior libero commanded multiple scoring runs from the service line, including orchestrating the Redhawks in the final 4-0 run to lock up Seattle U's second program win over Tarleton State.

The Montgomery, Ill. native became just the fifth Redhawk in the current D-I era to accrue 1,000 career digs. She reached the feat on the road against Utah Tech at the end of October. As the season stands, she holds 1,070 career digs.

Sipes is the second Redhawk to record multiple player of the week distinctions in one season since joining the WAC in 2012, with Martina Samadan being the last to do so in the 2015 season. Samadan garnered three conference weekly awards that year. The honor is now the 12th distinction for Seattle U volleyball, after Sipes captured the award on Oct. 9.

Sipes and the Redhawks prepare for the first round of the WAC volleyball tournament, slated for Thursday, November 21. They'll face No. 2 seed Grand Canyon in Arlington at 11 a.m. PT.
