SEATTLE - A career night for graduates Christeina Bryan and Taisiya Kozlova could not push Seattle U women's basketball over Portland State in a 67-57 final at the Redhawk Center on Saturday night.

Bryan tied career bests in points, FGM and steals, registering 19 points off 8-15 shooting from the floor and two steals. She hauled in five rebounds, including four offensive boards, while going a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

Kozlova tallied a career high 13 points, nearly tying her career best in threes after knocking down a team leading three on the night. She was also perfect from the charity stripe, knocking back two free throws. Kozlova ended the night with a steal, two assists and three rebounds.

Redshirt sophomore Sheridan Liggett paced the team with four assists, scoring eight points while hitting two three pointers in her first start of the season. Senior Julianna Walker bagged six points off the bench hitting both threes attempted. Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe paced the team with six rebounds, including three offensive boards.

Portland State opened up the scoring, going up by five through the first minute. The Redhawks turned the quarter on its head after surging up by one behind one of Walker's threes. A Seattle U scoring drought followed, allowing the Vikings to reclaim the lead, before a bucket from Kozlova as time expired cut the deficit to nine through the opening ten minutes.

Midway through the second quarter, the Redhawks would reclaim the lead once more behind a triple from Liggett. Both teams struggled to generate scoring runs, changing the lead two more times before the Vikings broke through to go up five at half 36-31.

Scoring cooled for the Redhawks through the closing half, but they locked down the Vikings through the final minutes, only allowing ten points in the fourth quarter. Seattle U shutdown Portland State through the last 1:11, not allowing a single score and generating two turnovers. The Redhawks ended the night on a 7-0 scoring run, but would fall in their home debut by ten.

Another road trip lies in store for the Redhawks as Seattle U travels down the interstate for a Tuesday night meeting with Portland at the Chiles Center.
