HUNTSVILLE, Texas - In Seattle U women's basketball's second road contest of the year, three Redhawks registered new career highs in the 69-57 loss to Sam Houston at the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum on Saturday night.

Freshman Candy Edokpaigbe led the scoring effort once more after pacing the team against Washington on Monday night. She racked up 16 points, shooting six of eight from the field while hauling in five rebounds and dishing out two assists. The freshman guard also picked up a steal while hitting four free throws.

Redshirt sophomore Sheridan Liggett added a career high 14 points, shooting 50 percent from three and a perfect four of four from the line. She paced the team with four assists and two steals and accounted for five rebounds.

Fellow redshirt sophomore Olivia Moore netted 11 points to surpass her previous career high of 10 points seen against Washington on Monday. She went five of eight from the field and dished out three assists.

Redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin ended the night with eight points, shooting 50 percent from the floor. She recorded a steal, a block and assists while bringing in five rebounds. Graduate Christeina Bryan led the team with six rebounds and also picked up a block.

After trailing early, the Redhawks outscored the Bearkats in both the second and third quarters, but the sluggish start to the offense and a hefty Sam Houston lead proved difficult to overcome. Seattle U chipped at leading, pulling in as close as three points in the second quarter, but Sam Houston played keep away through the remainder. Fouls proved to be the Achilles heel in surmounting the late push in the third quarter as the Redhawks played down through the final minutes of action.

As a unit, the Redhawks shot 47.8 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe. They scored 32 points in the paint and forced 28 Sam Houston turnovers, scoring 22 points off them.

The Redhawks have a week off before returning to action to play their first game at home next Saturday, November 16 against Portland State.
