PORTLAND - The Seattle University Redhawks earned their first tournament win of the season, finishing first at the Portland State Invitational. Rivekka Jumagulova also earned her second individual win of the year, with her 54-hole score of -4 under leading the pack.
That makes it back-to-back individual wins for Jumagulova, who also won the Harbottle Invitational. The senior now has four individual wins in her career and three in the last two years. Jumagulova has shot under par in seven rounds this year, including the -3 under, 69 in round three to seal the win at the Portland State Invitational.
The Redhawks finished the tournament with a team score of +26, good for a seven-stroke lead over second-place Weber State. In addition to Jumagulova winning the invitational, Tsara Ralamboarison and Aaryanna Morris both finished in the top 20 in the 65-golfer field.
This was Seattle University's first tournament win of the season. After starting the year with a 12th place finish, the Redhawks have not finished worse than third in any tournament since then to close out the fall season. The Redhawks have finished in the top three in six of their last eight tournaments, dating back to last season, and have won three of those eight.
Ralamboarison finished 15th at +11 in the tournament. Morris finished 18th at +12, while Annika Cruz finished just one stroke behind at +13. Jeanne Padillo tied for 27th, recording a 54-hole score of +15.
The Redhawks will next be in action at the start of the spring season. Seattle University will head to Litchfield Park, Arizona for the Utah Valley Invitational February 2-4.
