SEATTLE - The first competition of the fall season is here for the Seattle University Redhawks, who will begin the year on October 17. The Redhawks begin the year at ITA Northwest Regionals, a six-day competition hosted by Washington at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

The Redhawks return eight athletes who saw the court in singles play last year, welcoming one newcomer in Yuan Lu. Michael Frank, Oliver Hall, Jayden Harrison, Yu-Han Hsieh, Veselin Kiselkov, Dario Ristovski, Jun Sasagawa, and Filip Stipic are all back this year. That group had a combined 35 singles wins in 2023-24.

Hsieh, Stipic, Harrison, Hall, Sasagawa, and Kiselkov all had wins at last season's ITA Northwest Regionals. In singles, Hsieh reached the round of 32, while Stipic reached the round of 16. The doubles pairing of Harrison and Hall made the round of 32. The pairs of Hsieh and Stipic as well as Sasagawa and Kiselkov each made the round of 16 in doubles. Stipic will be the only Redhawk entering the tournament seeded.

The Redhawks have a strong track record in tournaments in their returning group as well. Frank, Hsieh, Kiselkov, and Stipic all won at least three tournament singles matches last year. In doubles, the pairs of Hall/Harrison, Hsieh/Stipic, and Kiselkov/Sasagawa all have winning tournament records. That trio of pairs went a combined 9-7 in tournaments last season.

Seattle University will hit the road after ITA Northwest Regionals, with a quick turnaround before the WAC Fall Invitational begins on October 24. That tournament will be hosted by Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas.
