ARLINGTON, TX - Seattle U men's soccer midfielder, Taketo Onodera, has been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Onodera, a graduate student from Kawaguchi, Japan, assisted on the Redhawk's lone goal in a 1-1 draw with UNLV on Thursday. He followed that performance by scoring the game-winning goal, on a converted penalty in the 3rd minute, of the 1-0 win over Utah Tech on Sunday.
He was also named to the KickABallPod best XI in NCAA men's soccer for his efforts in the Redhawks win over the Trailblazers. This is the first conference weekly selection for Onodera, who joins Eiji Hata (10/1 - defensive) as Redhawks to be named player of the week this season.
Seattle U will be back in action this Thursday, Oct. 17, when they travel to California to face San Diego State. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Aztecs is scheduled for 4:00pm PT.

We wasted no time opening up the scoring!
We earn the penalty and Onodera converts it!
