  • Seattle U grabbed a 25-23 second set win over Utah Valley but fell to the Wolverines at home 3-1 to close out its conference home opening weekend.
  • Arianna Bilby, fresh off a season high 21 kill performance against Utah Valley, leads the team with 131 kills, which ranks ninth in the WAC.
  • Bilby grabbed her fourth double-double of the season, adding 13 digs with her 21 kills after a double-double in the conference home opener against GCU.
  • Katlyn Sipes had 20+ digs for the third time this season, finishing with a match-high 22 against the Wolverines.
  • Sipes paces the team with 175 digs and ranks second in the WAC in digs per set (3.98).
  • Elif Teksoy became just the sixth Redhawk in the program's modern Division I era to surpass 1,000 career assists when she passed the marker on Sept. 21 in a 3-0 win over Air Force. The redshirt sophomore enters Thursday's match with 1,109 career assists.
  • Anae Asuncion helps orchestrate the Redhawk offense alongside Teksoy. The freshman ranks ninth in the WAC in assists per set (4.74). The pair (Teksoy and Asuncion) combined for 374 assists through 12 contests.
  • Merima Smajlovic ranks third in the WAC with 20 service aces (0.44 per set) after tallying three more against UVU.
  • Marley Hardgrave ranks eighth in the WAC with 1.14 blocks per set. Yasemin Elmas sits right behind at ninth with 0.93 blocks per set.
  • The Redhawks won their season opener, 3-2, over CSUN to give new Head Coach Dan Behnke his first win at the helm of the program.
  • Merima Smajlovic was named to the Idaho State All-Tournament Team. The junior outside hitter averaged 2.92 kills and 3.0 digs per set while also tallying seven aces and five blocks over the three matches.
  • Marley Hardgrave earned all-tournament honors at the Roadrunner Classic after collecting 13 total blocks over two matches. The junior middle blocker also hit an efficient .320.
  • Seattle U closed out non-conference play with a 2-8 record. The Redhawks' wins came over CSUN and Air Force.
  • The 2024 Redhawk squad features nine returning players and seven new faces.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS TARLETON
  • Seattle U trails the all-time series with Tarleton 0-5 as the Redhawks pursue their first program win over the Texans.
  • Tarleton has won each contest dating back to the first meeting in 2021. The Texans most recently grabbed a five set decision in Seattle, downing the Redhawks 3-2 on Oct. 26, 2023.
  • The last meeting in Stephenville was on Sept. 23, 2023 and resulted in a 3-0 victory for the Texans.

Senior outside hitter Arianna Bilby was named to the nine-member Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Team as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. An Arlington, Wash., native, Bilby is entering her senior season with the Redhawks. She is coming off of a standout junior season where she finished second in the WAC and 32nd in the nation in attacks per set (11.01) and third in the WAC in kills per set (3.56). She led the Redhawks in points and kills while recording 11 double-doubles and earning a trio of All-Tournament Team selections.

UP NEXT
Seattle U remains on the road, traveling to Abilene Christian on Oct. 5 for a 11 a.m. PT first serve, before returning to Texas next week with a head-to-head against UT Arlington on Oct. 10. The four match road slate wraps with a trip up to Orem, Utah as the Redhawks revisit Utah Valley on Oct. 14. Matches will air live on ESPN+.
