BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A second straight five-set match would not go in favor of Seattle University volleyball as the Redhawks closed out play at the Roadrunner Classic with a 25-22, 23-25, 25-12, 22-25, 6-15 final against host CSU Bakersfield Friday morning.

Tatum Chase led Seattle U's attack, finishing with a career-high 11 kills to go with five blocks. Yasemine Elmas was efficient in the middle, putting away 10 kills on 22 swings with just one error. Marley Hardgrave was a force at the net, finishing with a career-high 10 block assists to go with five kills.

Despite a 15-7 overall advantage in blocks, CSBU (3-2) was able to capitalize in other ways, particularly in the later sets. In the decisive fifth set, the 'Runners opened with six straight points and Seattle U never recovered.

The Redhawks remain on the road for one more match, facing off against University of Portland on Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Chiles Center, before making their home debut on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. against the Pilots.
