CORVALLIS, OR - Seattle U men's soccer battled to a draw with Oregon State, 2-2, Thursday afternoon in Oregon. The Redhawks led for a majority of the match, but two second half goals from the Beavers split the points between the northwest rivals.
Taketo Onodera opened up the scoring on the day after a perfectly executed counter-attack by Richy Lapointe-Guevara and Titus Washington led to the goal in the 15th minute. It was the second goal and second assist of the season for Onodera and Washington respectively, while it was the first assist of 2024 for Lapointe-Guevara.
After the Beavers equalized early in the second half, Washington would add to his standout day with the go-ahead goal in the 68th. He and Edgar Leon connected on the combination play that caught Oregon State flat footed. It was the third goal this year from the transfer out of Carlsbad, Calif., and it was his second 3-point performance as well.
Seattle U would see the victory slip away though, as the Beavers netted a 89th minute goal off of a corner, sending both teams home with a point.
