FRESNO, Calif. - Seattle U women's soccer made it a perfect week, defeating Fresno State, 1-0, Sunday night in California. Bella Bonnett scored the lone goal of the match while the defense secured their second straight shutout.
"Today was one of those games where a good team finds a way to win and we did that," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Jourdyn and Bella connected for a very nice goal and Taylor Marks had a very impactful weekend for us."
For Bella, who scored the game-winning goal in the 26', it was her second of the season, while Curran picked up her team leading third assist of 2024.
Defensively, the Redhawks have now had shutouts in back-to-back games and have dropped their goals against average to 0.6 on the young season. They held the Bulldogs to just one shot attempt in the second half on their way to securing the victory.
"Our backline was extremely solid all weekend long," Woodward said of the defensive effort. "Kait Raffensperger continues to be such a great leader and force in our back line."
Seattle U now improves to 3-1-1 on the season and have gone unbeaten since their season opening loss. Their short stint away from Championship Field will come to an end next week, when they play host to Hawaii (9/5) and Oregon State (9/8).
"This was a great road trip for us, with two wins and two shutouts on the weekend," Woodward added of the team's current form. "We are happy to be headed back for two home games this upcoming weekend."
