SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks cross country team will continue its 2024 season this weekend. The Redhawks will head across the state to Colfax, Washington for the Cougar Classic, hosted by Washington State. The Cougar Classic will take place on September 13, with the women's 6k at 5:00 pm and the men's 8k at 5:45 pm.
The Redhawks will be one of 14 schools participating in the Cougar Classic. Alongside host Washington State, Seattle University will compete with Arizona, Boise State, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho, Lewis-Clark State, Montana, Northwest Nazarene, Spokane Community College, UC San Diego, Walla Walla, and Whitworth.
This will be Seattle University's second race of the year, following a dual meet against Washington on September 3. In that race, the Redhawks were led by Azalea Groleau (18:25.15) and Dylan Irey (28:38.73). Groleau's time put her just five seconds off of Seattle University's all-time top-20 times.
Seattle University has not ran on the east side of the state since 2019, when the Redhawks took part in the West Region Preview held in Colfax. This season's NCAA West Regional will also take part in Colfax, on November 15.
