SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks announced the hiring of a new head coach for cross country and track & field today, with Jordana LeSavage taking over both programs. LeSavage had served as an assistant coach for Seattle University since 2022.
"Jordana brings a wealth of technical experience in cross country and track & field, coupled with an unwavering commitment to Redhawk student athletes and ambitious goals for the program," said Director of Athletics Shaney Fink. "We are thrilled for Jordana to lead us into the next chapter of Seattle U cross country and track & field."
In LeSavage's three seasons working at Seattle University, cross country put eight new times in the program's all-time top 20s, including new program records in the women's 6K and the men's 8K. The Redhawks earned two WAC titles, both in the distance medley relay, during LeSavage's tenure as assistant coach. Since LeSavage joined Seattle University, the Redhawks have earned nine All-WAC honors and 16 school records.
The Redhawks have also shined academically in LeSavage's time. Twenty-nine team members earned Academic All-WAC honors last season alone. Seattle University earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award in both cross country and track & field in all of LeSavage's seasons as well.
"I am honored to work alongside the exceptional men and women that make up the Seattle U cross country and track & field program," said LeSavage. "I am inspired by the student athletes' commitment to excellence in both the classroom and on the track. I would like to thank Kelly Sullivan for his dedication and contribution the last seven years, and Shaney Fink and Eric Guerra for the opportunity to continue to build a competitive program."
Before joining Seattle University, LeSavage spent two years at Florida State as an assistant with the cross country and track & field programs. She was a part of two top-20 team finishes as Florida State reached the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships. LeSavage was also a part of Florida State's 2021 Indoor and Outdoor Atlantic Coast Conference Championship teams.
LeSavage began her coaching career at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Co. She led the Ralston Valley boys team to the Colorado 5A Cross Country State Championships and three different podium finishes at the Track & Field Championships.
LeSavage was a cross country and track & field athlete at Winona State University, where she earned a degree in health and exercise science. While at Winona State, she led the team to the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships.
