PREVIEW: SB at WAC Tournament

SEATTLE - Seattle U softball looks forward to hosting the 2024 University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Tournament this week, entering as the 4 overall seed. The Redhawks will begin the double elimination style tournament in the fourth game of the opening day, facing off with the winner of 5 Utah Tech and 8 Southern Utah at 7 p.m. on Logan Field. Each contest of the WAC Tournament will feature live streaming ESPN+ as well as live stats.

The Redhawks will begin the double elimination style tournament in the fourth game of the opening day, facing off with the winner of #5 Utah Tech and #8 Southern Utah at 7 p.m. on Logan Field. Each contest of the WAC Tournament will feature live streaming ESPN+ as well as live stats. 

The winner of this contest will play at 1 p.m. on Thursday against #1 overall seed Grand Canyon, while the loser will play against the losing team of game five at 4 p.m. also on Thursday.

WAC TOURNAMENT TIME
This marks the 10th time Seattle U has made it to the WAC Tournament, holding an overall record of 18-14. The Redhawks have won the WAC Tournament title twice over the last four events, going undefeated in both 2019 and 2021 with wins over New Mexico State in the championship game. The 2019 tournament took place in Phoenix, while the 2021 tournament was in Seattle.

ALL-WAC HONORS
Taylor Fitch, Sydney Frankenberger, Lily Garcia and Karen Spadafora were among those honored by the WAC in its 2024 postseason awards. Spadafora became the program's first WAC Defensive Player of the Year and first WAC freshman to do so, while Fitch was named as one of the top-11 student athletes in the conference with her first team selection. Frankenberger's stellar senior season earned her All-WAC second team honors, while Garcia became the first WAC athlete to claim All-Defensive Team honors in the first three years of the awards existence.
