ARLINGTON, Tex. – Seattle U softball (22-30, 14-12 WAC) took the final Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series of the 2024 regular season on Saturday, taking down UT Arlington, 4-3. Tai Wilson sent the Redhawks in front during the final inning, smacking a ball to first base that allowed Lily Garcia to beat the throw home. The WAC contests took place at Allan Saxe Field on the campus of UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
Nicola Simpson brought the Redhawks within one run during the fourth, smacking a two-out, single into left field for an RBI. Tai Wilson would come around to score that run, reaching on an error by the shortstop.
Seattle U tied the contest at three in the fifth, scoring two runs on four hits. Karen Spadafora continued her strong at bats, with her second single of the day. Garcia put her into scoring position with a great bunt to the pitcher, while pinch-hitter, Katie Walling, smacked a single through the left side to put Spadafora on third. Sydney Frankenberger brought across a run with a single up the middle before Wilson tied it up with a double over the right fielders head.

The Redhawks snatched the lead in the seventh after the bases were loaded for Wilson. With one out, Garcia singled up the middle, followed by a four pitch walk to Sophia Kissling. Frankenberger loaded the bases with a single through the left side to give Wilson the opportunity.

Berkley Vance did well to give Seattle U the chance to win this one, allowing just one hit over 2.1 innings pitched. Nicola Simpson grabbed her first save in a Redhawks uniform, sending the Mavericks down in order in the final frame thanks to this catch from Kissling.
