ARLINGTON, TX - Senior third baseman Derek Gellos has been named Second Team All-WAC, as announced by the Western Athletic Conference on Monday.
"Great compliment to Derek's game to be recognized by the coaches in the league with us not being in the top tier of the conference," said head coach Donny Harrel. "He is a very good overall player and the acknowledgment is well deserved."
Gellos concluded his Redhawk career this season by hitting .330, while being top-2 in hits, doubles, and RBI on the year. His career .323 batting average ranks fifth all-time in program history and his 179 hits ranks seventh.
This is the first all-conference honor for Gellos, and he is the lone selection for the Redhawks this season.
