SEATTLE – Seattle U softball (23-32) 2024 University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament run came to a close on Thursday, falling to No. 1 seed Grand Canyon, 2-3, before dropping a matchup with No. 5 seed UT Arlington, 6-7. Both WAC Tournament contests took place at Logan Field on the campus of Seattle U in Seattle.
GRAND CANYON CONTEST
The Redhawks opened the scoring in this one, using a Taylor Fitch single into center field to take an early lead. Tai Wilson and Sydney Frankenberger began the inning with back-to-back singles before Fitch stepped up to the plate with one out.
Mikee Morris made it a one run contest in the seventh, smacking a single through the hole on the left side. Wilson marked her second single of the contest through the left side before Frankenberger reached on an error by second base.

Nicola Simpson gave the Redhawks a chance in this one, throwing a complete game with just three runs allowed and two strikeouts. The Seattle native opened the contest with three straight ground outs before allowing just two base runners in the second and third.
GRAND CANYON CONTEST SCORING
- Third Inning: Taylor Fitch singled to center field for an RBI.
- Fourth Inning: GCU scored two runs on blank hits.
- Sixth Inning: GCU scored one run on blank hits.
- Seventh Inning: Mikee Morris singled through the left side for an RBI.
The Redhawks tied the contest at one all in the bottom half of the first, using a Mikee Morris sacrifice fly to left field. Sydney Frankenberger would be the run that scored on the play, leading off the inning with a single to shortstop and advancing on a throwing error. Tai Wilson put her onto third base with a hard hit ball to the right side of the infield.
Seattle U took its first lead in the game during the fifth inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Wilson and Morris got the action started with back-to-back singles to open the inning, while Taylor Fitch loaded the bases with a walk. Jasmine Wehn provided the hit that put SU in front, smacking a single into center field to bring two runs across home plate. Lily Garcia doubled that lead two batters later, hitting a sacrifice fly into left field foul territory.

The Redhawks never gave up after going down by three runs in the six, grabbing one right back on a Mikee Morris double over the center fielder's head in the bottom half. Wilson came around to score onn that play after placing a perfect bunt single in her at bat right before Morris.

SU took that fight into the final inning, opening with Wehn's first career triple that got just past the diving right fielder's glove. Nicola Simpson platted her in the very next at bat, taking a 1-2 pitch into left field for a sacrifice fly. Garcia followed right after with a double that she roped down the left field line, just beating the throw into second base.
Avari Morris gave Seattle U a chance to win it late, sending down four of the five batters she faced.

- First Inning: UTA scored one run on two hits, Mikee Morris hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
- Second Inning: UTA scored one run on two hits.
- Fifth Inning: Jasmine Wehn singled to center field for two RBIs. Lily Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
- Sixth Inning: UTA scored five runs on one hits. Mikee Morris doubled to center field for an RBI.
- Seventh Inning: Nicola Simpson hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
