Track and Field Completes Regular Season at Oregon Twilight

EUGENE, OR - Seattle U track and field completed their outdoor regular season at the Oregon Preview this Friday, May 3 in Eugene. The Redhawks ended the regular season a high note, with some notable performances.

EUGENE, OR - Seattle U track and field completed their outdoor regular season at the Oregon Preview this Friday, May 3 in Eugene. The Redhawks ended the regular season a high note, with some notable performances. Despite heavy rains throughout the entire meet the group that went to University of Oregon really shined with each of them placing top 7 or higher overall in each event they competed in one of the most prestigious meets annually held in the country every year.

Freshman Manthita Wague continued to improve upon her impressive performances in the women's triple jump with her mark of 11.49m.  She went from seventh to third place in her last jump. This mark earned Wague a sixth place spot in the all-time top 10 performances, moving up from the seventh-place spot and beating her previous personal best of 11.36 by a significant margin. 

Junior Lilianne Hargreaves continued her impressive season, earning a third place spot in all-time performance in the women's 1500m with her time of 4:32.87. Hargreaves completed the race in fifth overall. Her time shows improvement from her previous personal best of 4:32.93 that she set at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 12. Junior Azalea Groleau was less than a second behind Hargreaves with another impressive performance.

Graduate transfer Yonas Sauers also continued his notable season for the Redhawks, finishing in second place in the men's 5000m with a time of 14:27.45.

Senior Alex Franklin performed well in the men's 800m, finishing in seventh place out of twenty total competitors with a time of 1:52.72. Junior, Gus Harquail finished seventh overall in a talented 3000m steeplechase field.

Sophomore Zoe Tibbo finished fifth overall in the women's triple jump and seventh in the long jump, while freshman JR Zamora finished fourth overall in the men's triple jump.

The Redhawks had two new personal bests at the meet, bringing them to a total of 86 personal bests during the 2024 outdoor season. The team will continue competition at the WAC Outdoor Championships in Orem, UT from May 9-11.
