SEATTLE – Seattle University men's basketball has inked a commitment from 6-8 forward Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe for the 2024-25 season. Moncrieffe joins the Redhawks as a graduate transfer following two seasons at Georgia and two seasons at Oklahoma State.

"MA has had success at the highest level of college basketball and his elite athleticism, toughness and leadership will elevate our team," said Head Coach Chris Victor. "His work ethic and character are a perfect fit for our program and university. We can't wait for him to get to Seattle and provide a positive impact both on and off the court."

In two seasons at Georgia, Moncrieffe appeared in 44 games with 30 starts. He averaged 3.9 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 49% from the field as the Bulldogs secured 36 total wins, including a deep run in the 2024 NIT, falling in the semifinals to eventual champion Seton Hall.

As a freshman and sophomore at Oklahoma State, Moncrieffe played in 58 games with 21 starts. He averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds while averaging 18.2 minutes per game while helping the Cowboys reach the Round of 32 of the 2020 NCAA Tournament.

A Toronto, Ontario, Canada, native, Moncrieffe was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN.com, 247Sports.com and rivals.com and ranked as the No. 64 overall recruit in the Class of 2019 by 247Sports.com coming out of high school. He was coached by Tony McIntyre at Orangeville Prep, which he helped capture four consecutive Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) regular-season titles, compiled a combined record of 73-4 and was the first-ever two-time BioSteel All-Canadian Player of the Year, an accolade previously won by NBA lottery picks R.J. Barrett and Thon Maker.

Moncrieffe is the third Redhawk signee for the 2024-25 season, as he joins guards Maleek Arington (Auburn, Wash./Idaho State) and DaSean Stevens (Corona, Calif./Mt. San Jacinto College).
