SEATTLE – Seattle U softball (16-23, 8-6 WAC) began its seven game road trip on Monday evening, falling to Washington, 0-3. The non-conference contest took place Husky Softball Stadium on the campus of Washington in Seattle.
Nicola Simpson was dealing in the circle from the get go, holding the Huskies off the board until the final inning. The Seattle native prevented the runner from reaching home from third in the opening frame, before she pitched around a single and an error in the second. The third inning saw her force three ground outs and strand a runner on third, while the fourth featured two strikeouts. Karen Spadafora concluded the fifth inning, catching a Husky runner trying to take second.
Seattle U's best chance at scoring came in the final frame, putting a runner in scoring position with two outs. Taylor Fitch singled to the pitcher before Katie Walling eventually stole second after entering for Fitch. Simpson walked to put two runners on but the Redhawks couldn't bring the run home.E5 | KAREN THROWS OUT THE RUNNER TO END THE INNING????
