SEATTLE, WA - Seattle U women's tennis ended their regular season on a high note with a 4-3 victory over Utah Tech this Saturday, April 13. With this win, the Redhawks complete the regular season with a conference record of 4-3 and an overall record of 9-8.
The Redhawks started the match on a high note with a strong 6-0 doubles win from Lola Tavcar and Lamija Avdic over Adithi Venkatakrishnan and Olivia Bustos. Jade Quintana and Anastasia Nikolova then fell to Rachel Mellor and Mariana Zurita (3-6). Liliya Dimova and Yuna Kadowaki were defeated in a close match against Ana Sampere (5-7), earning the trailblazers the doubles point.
After losing the doubles point, the Redhawks came through in singles play, beginning with Lamija Avdic's dominant defeat over Adithi Venkatakrishnan (6-0, 6-0). Jade Quintana then fell to Rachel Mellar after losing the first set 4-6 and retiring the match. Yuna Kadowaki was defeated by Mariana Zurita (1-6, 0-6), making the score 3-1 in the trailblazers favor. Liliya Dimova then had a strong defeat over Ana Sampere (6-1, 6-1) and Anastasia Nikolova defeated Olivia Bustos (7-5, 6-0), tying the score 3-3. Sophomore Lola Tavcar then came through to seal the victory for the Redhawks with her defeat over Ya-Chi Hsu (2-6, 7-6, 6-0).
The Redhawks will compete in the WAC Championships that will take place in Harlingen, Texas from April 18 to April 20.
