Softball Falls in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Seattle U softball (7-14) opened its week series at Portland State, falling both contests, 4-6 and 0-2. Both contests took place Gordon Faber Field 4 in Hillsboro, Oregon.

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Seattle U softball (7-14) opened its week series at Portland State, falling both contests, 4-6 and 0-2. Both contests took place Gordon Faber Field 4 in Hillsboro, Oregon. 

GAME ONE
The Redhawks got some offense going during the third inning, scoring two runs on three hits. Katie Walling lead off with a home run to left field, before Nicola Simpson doubled to right center. Sydney Frankenberger drove home another run two batters latter, knocking a single into right field.

After Portland State tied the score at three, Tai Wilson put SU back in front during the sixth. Coming up as a pinch-hitter, Wilson smoked a double into left field for an RBI. 

Nicola Simpson started off the contest in a great way, throwing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Simpson was at her best during the second inning, striking out the side. 

GAME ONE SCORING
  • Third Inning: Katie Walling homered to left field. Sydney Frankenberger singled to right field for an RBI. 
  • Fourth Inning: Ava Sin reached on an error by right field, scoring a run. 
  • Fifth Inning: Portland State scored three runs on three hits. 
  • Sixth Inning: Tai Wilson doubled to left field for an RBI. Portland State scored three runs on three hits. 
GAME TWO
Freshman Avari Morris was stellar in the circle, throwing a complete game with six strikeouts as well as not allowing an earned run. After two runs scored in the second inning, Morris sent down the next11 of 13 batters to keep Seattle U in the contest. 

The Redhawks did their best to mount a comeback in the final inning, opening with back-to-back singles from Jasmine Wehn and Mikee Morris

GAME TWO SCORING
  • Second Inning: The Vikings scored two runs on three hits. 
Seattle U concludes its series with Portland State on Friday morning, beginning at 11 a.m. in Hillsboro.
