SEATTLE, WA - Seattle U women's tennis impressed this Sunday in their match against Idaho, defeating them with a score of 5-2. The match featured notable doubles performances from the duo of Lamija Avdic and Lola Tavcar, and a dominant singles performance from junior Elena Kraleva. The Redhawks' victory in this match improves their record to 5-5 on the season so far.
Avdic and Tavcar were dominant in their match against Rachelle Starreveld and Lena Beckx, defeating them with a score of 6-3. Junior's Elena Kraleva and Jade Quintana then fell in their match against Valentina Rodas and Naomi Schraeder (4-6). The duo of Liliya Dimova and Yuna Kadowaki were then defeated by Saffron Dowse and Ida Johansson (4-6), earning the Vandals the doubles point.
After losing the doubles point, the Redhawks came back strong in singles play, beginning with Lamija Avdic's strong win against Valentina Rodas (7-5, 6-0). Freshman Anastasia Nikolova was also strong in her match against Ida Johansson (72-6, 6-4). Junior Jade Quintana then fell in a close match against Naomi Schraeder (4-6, 6-72), tying the overall score at 2-2. Elena Kraleva then had a dominant win over Selin Sepken (6-2, 6-3), and Yuna Kadowaki came out on top in a close match against Rachelle Starreveld (74-6, 711-6); putting the Redhawks up 4-2. To round out singles play, Liliya Dimova was victorious in her match against Diana Khaydarshina (6-73, 6-2, 6-1), bringing the overall score to 5-2 in the Redhawks favor.
The Redhawks will continue their home stretch with a match against Stephen F. Austin on Friday, March 22 and Grand Canyon on Sunday, March 24.
