ABILENE, Tex. – Seattle U softball (11-18, 3-3 WAC) concluded its first 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) road series on Saturday afternoon, taking down Abliene Christian, 5-1, thanks to a four run seventh inning to give them the series victory. Mikee Morris provided the game-winning hit, smacking a single to the shortstop with the bases loaded. This Western Athletic Conference series finale took place at the Poly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas.
The Redhawks opened the scoring in the first inning, using a Jasmine Wehn sacrifice fly to center field to score Sydney Frankenberger from third. Frankenberger lead off the game with a double to center field and advanced to third on a hard hit ball from Mikee Morris.
After Abilene Christian tied the score at one in the sixth, Seattle U claimed the victory with a four run seventh inning on four hits. Sophia Kissling opened the inning with a walk, before Frankenberger singled to center and Tai Wilson loaded the bases on an error by the shortstop. Mikee Morris put SU in front on the single to shortstop, while Jasmine Wehn brought in two insurance runs on a hard hit ball off the pitchers foot that ended up in shallow right field. Katie Walling drove in the final run of the inning, hitting a single to shallow center field.

Stefanie Madrigal was once again fantastic in the series finale, allowing just four hits and zero earned runs in a complete game win. After the Wildcat's first batter got on, Madrigal sent down the next 10 Wildcats in order. The San Jose native, stranded a Wildcat on third in the fourth with an inning ending strikeout and forced three straight ground outs in the fifth. Madrigal worked around the error in the sixth and allowed just one base runner in the final inning to grab her sixth win of the year.
