Tyson, Schumacher Named to NABC All-District Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cameron Tyson and Alex Schumacher have earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2023-24 Division I All-District 6 honors, announced Tuesday by the NABC and selected by NABC-member head coaches.

This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Redhawks have garnered All-District selections, and the fifth straight year that they have earned a First Team pick. Tyson was a First Team pick in 2023, Darrion Trammell was a First Team selection in 2021 and 2022, Terrell Brown was a First Team selection in 2020 and Myles Carter was named to the Second Team in 2019.

Tyson, also named to the All-Western Athletic Conference First Team, has had a memorable third and final season for Seattle U as he surpassed 2,000 points for his collegiate career, cracked into the top-10 scoring list as a Redhawk and became the program's all-time leader in three pointers. The team leader in scoring at 17.6 ppg, including 97 made threes this season, Tyson has to-date 2,081 career points and 440 career threes, including 1,542 Seattle U points and 299 made threes in a Redhawk uniform.

Schumacher led the team and the WAC in assists all season long. To-date, he has 167 dimes for a 5.1 apg average this season, while also ranking second on the team in scoring at 13.4 ppg. Schumacher, who also earned Second Team All-WAC honors scored in double figures 22 times, including eight 20+ point games, while dishing six or more assists on 15 occasions. He leads the Redhawks with 121 made free throws while shooting them at a 76.6% clip. He also adds a team-high 41 steals on the season.

Seattle U's season continues this week at the 2024 Ro College Basketball Invitational (CBI), held March 23-27 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Redhawks open play on Saturday, March 23 versus 14-seed Delaware State (15-18) from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
