Seattle U Claims Third at Puerto Rico Classic

HUMACAO, P.R. – Seattle U women's golf tied for its best overall finish on the 2023-24 season Thursday morning, claiming third place overall out of 12 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Ball State. Shayna Lu finished as the top Redhawk on the week, tying for seventh place overall at one-over 217 (74-71-72). The event took place at the Palmas Del Mar Flamboyan Course in Humacao, Puerto Rico, on the 6,026 yards course with a par of 72.

HUMACAO, P.R. – Seattle U women's golf tied for its best overall finish on the 2023-24 season Thursday morning, claiming third place overall out of 12 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Ball State. Shayna Lu finished as the top Redhawk on the week, tying for seventh place overall at one-over 217 (74-71-72). The event took place at the Palmas Del Mar Flamboyan Course in Humacao, Puerto Rico, on the 6,026 yards course with a par of 72. 

Seattle U led the field in par three average (3.13) and scoring (eight-over), with Lu and Rivekka Jumagulova (73-72-78) anchoring the squad as they tied for the fifth best average (3.08) and scoring (one-over). The Redhawks led the field in pars with 187 total, posting 20 more than the next best university. 

Tsara Ralamboarison (73-74-73) was a key piece in SU's leading the field in pars, marking 44 overall to lead the field in the individual category in route to another top-15 finish. Jumagulova tied for second overall in made pars with 40. 

Annika Cruz (74-76-72) also sealed a finish inside of the top-20, claiming 18th overall with the most made birdies for the Redhawks at nine. Rounding out the Redhawks in Puerto Rico is Aaryanna Morris, posting a three-round total of 226 (78-74-74).

The Redhawks will return to action on March 16, heading to Sedona, Arizona, for the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona.
