BEAVERTON, OR - Seattle U women's tennis dropped a close match against Portland State this Friday, March 2 with an overall score of 3-4.
In doubles play, the duo of Liliya Dimova and Yuna Kadowaki started the Redhawks off strong with a 6-3 win over Nika Beukers and Momoko Yoshimura. Junior's Jade Quintana and Elena Kraleva were then defeated by Capu Sanoner and Scarlett Perkins (4-6). Lamija Avdic and Lola Tavcar then stepped up with a 6-4 win over Elizabeth Strongina and Maddie Egan, earning the Redhawks the doubles point.
In singles play, the Vikings were down a singles player which resulted in a default win for the Redhawks, and Freshman Anastasia Nikolova was dominant in her match against Maddie Egan (6-1, 6-3), putting the Redhawks up 3-0. Junior Jade Quintana dropped her match against Scarlett Perkins (4-6, 2-6) and Lamija Avdic lost a close match to Nika Beukers (2-6, 6-1, 4-6). To round out singles play, Elena Kraleva was defeated by Elizabeth Strongina (5-7, 6-2, 6-75) and Liliya Dimova fell to Momoko Yoshimura (7-5, 2-6, 2-6).
The Redhawks will continue their season with a home match against Idaho on Sunday, March 3 at the Amy Yee Tennis Center at 9:00 am PST.
